Removals to Naples from the UK

Dense, vertical, and entirely workable with local knowledge

Naples gets a reputation for being difficult to deliver into. It is dense and it is vertical, but it is not chaotic — it simply rewards knowing the building before you arrive rather than after.

The centro storico is a UNESCO-listed grid of very narrow streets with very tall buildings. Vomero and Posillipo are up a hill. Chiaia is grand and comparatively easy. The suburbs and the towns along the bay are ordinary deliveries.

Getting to the door

Narrow, and tall

Streets in the old centre are frequently too narrow for a full-size vehicle, and the buildings are four, five or six floors with a stairwell and no lift. A shuttle plus a substantial crew is the normal answer, and both are in the quote.

Vomero and the funicular districts

The hill districts are reached by roads with serious gradients and tight hairpins. Vehicles are chocked and loads are strapped for the climb. It is straightforward once planned and unpleasant when improvised.

Parking is negotiated, not assumed

Finding a legal standing point near the door is a real part of the job here. We establish it in advance with the building and the local authority rather than hoping on the morning.

The arrival leg

How a load reaches Naples

Down the A1 past Caserta onto the tangenziale, then in on the road that serves your quarter. The tangenziale exits matter here — the wrong one puts a large vehicle into streets it cannot turn in.

Who moves to Naples

Returning Italian families, academics attached to the universities, and a growing number of people who have looked at the price of a flat in Chiaia against one in a northern city and drawn the obvious conclusion.

The bay towns

Pozzuoli, Bacoli and the towns along the coast towards Sorrento are ordinary road deliveries with normal parking — a different proposition from the old centre entirely, and often where people end up.

Before Naples, there is the rest of the journey

Everything up to the Italian border is the same for every destination on this site: collection at your UK address, export packing, the Channel crossing and the run through France. The route page sets that out in full, including which Alpine crossing suits which part of Italy.

The paperwork is the same too — a customs declaration, a detailed inventory and Transfer of Residence relief on your own used belongings. That is covered on the customs page. France appears on this site only as transit; if France is your destination rather than your motorway, our sister site france-removals.co.uk covers that corridor.

Moving to Naples — your questions

Is Naples difficult to deliver into?

The old centre is, because the streets are narrow and the buildings are tall without lifts. The rest of the city and the bay towns are ordinary. Which one you are moving to decides the crew and the method.

Can you park outside the building?

Often not in the centre, so we arrange a legal standing point in advance and shuttle from it. That is planned rather than improvised, and it is in the quote.

Do you deliver along the Sorrento coast?

Yes. Those are road deliveries with the usual coastal-road constraints — narrow in places, with gradients — and they are planned as such.

Getting a quote for Naples

Send the UK address, the Italian one and a rough room list. The access at the far end shapes the quote more than the distance does.
