What we collect, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can tell us to do with it.
Who we are
Italy Removals operates italy-removals.co.uk and provides household removals from the United Kingdom to Italy, together with packing, customs preparation and storage. We are the data controller for the information described here. Reach us at hello@italy-removals.co.uk.
What the quote form collects
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The pickup address — your UK property
- The drop-off address — your Italian property
- Your moving date, if you give one
- Anything you write in the notes field
Alongside that we receive ordinary technical information — IP address, browser, pages viewed — from analytics and from the anti-spam check protecting the form.
Why we hold it
To answer your enquiry, survey and price the move, carry it out if you go ahead, and keep a record of work done. The lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing that contract once made, and our legitimate interest in running and accounting for the business.
Surveys, inventories and photographs
A survey produces an inventory of your belongings and notes on the access at both properties. Where you send photographs of a staircase, a street or an Italian entrance, those stay with the job file so the crew can plan around what is actually there. We do not use images of your home for marketing.
Customs — the part we cannot opt out of
An Italian customs entry cannot be made without sharing information outside this business. The Italian authorities and the clearing agent need your name, both addresses, your codice fiscale, your residence documentation and the full inventory of what is travelling, including values. Crossing operators need vehicle and consignment details. This is a legal requirement of moving your belongings across a border rather than something we can waive on your behalf.
Who else sees your information
Our own staff and crews, our customs agent, and the systems we use to manage enquiries, quotes and jobs. Where a destination needs a local operator — a barge in Venice, a small-vehicle transfer on the Amalfi Coast — they receive what they need to carry out that leg and nothing beyond it. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to unrelated companies for marketing.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses analytics to understand which pages people read and where enquiries come from, plus a spam-prevention service on the quote form. No advertising cookies are set. You can block cookies in your browser and the site will still work, form included.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept while they are live and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back, then deleted. Records of completed moves — including customs documentation — are kept for as long as accounting, insurance and customs obligations require.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where nothing obliges us to keep it, object to particular processing, or ask us to restrict it. Email us and we will deal with it. If you are unhappy with how we respond you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
Amendments appear here. Anything that materially affects somebody with a live booking is communicated directly rather than left on a page to be discovered.
